Our staff works diligently to continually improve the process and provide encouragement to the students who participate. The follwing link is to a Word document with a list of the award winners by school. The awards will not be listed in the illuminating software link to awards. Registration deadline is Monday Feb. 16, 2015 (Registration fee is $10), ask your teacher if fee is paid by school or by the student.

The new website www.rbsef.org is currently under development and will be evolving steadily in the next few months. We appreciate your patience. Some of the new features of this website will allow a student to register their project and fill in required paperwork online. Teachers that register on the site will be able to monitor student registration progress/paperwork and obtain a list of their students entered in the science fair.

2015 STUDENT PROJECT DISPLAY AND SAFETY RULES

The above attachments contain all the information for you to setup your project on Monday March 16, 2015 in the Bollman Gym at Albright College. You must know your assigned project number and the category in which the project is entered before you come to the science fair. If you do not remember your project number and category you must (1) sign into this website with your user name and password to enter your registration account or (2) ask your teacher. NOTE: Your project number must be be written on the back of your project and also on your notebook(s). Go to "Fair" then prompt "Fair Information" then "Day of Fair" for more detailed information on what to expect during fair week.
Come prepared with a pen or pencil, clear tape, a piece of plain white paper and any other items if any corrections must be made to your project. You must read "Student Project Display and Safety Rules" to make sure you do not bring to the science fair any water, chemicals in containers, sand, ground or other powders or liquids. Do not bring any live materials including animals, microbes, plants, fungi, or molds. Read the attached display rules for suggestions on how to display these items without bringing the "real thing" to the science fair. Note: your school name or teacher's name cannot be on your project or in the notebook only your project id.

2015 STUDENT PROJECT DISPLAY AND SAFETY RULES
NOTE: Registration deadline extended to Feb. 17.
NOTE: If you registered on this site last year you do not need to register again. If you changed buildings you may want to check your registration to make sure all is still correct. If you have not registered last year You must first go to registration and follow directions for teacher registration in order to use the online registration features of this site. You must register before your students start to register their projects or else you will not be able to track your students using ths site.
Open the above attachement "March Reminder to Teachers" for complete teacher information for science fair week March 16-19, 2015. Suggestion, open and print the "Student Science Fair Schedule of Events" and "Student Project Display and Safety Rules" to copy and distribute to your students prior to the science fair.
To find the list of students entered in your building(s) go to (1) "Teacher's Main" (2) prompt "Registration" (3) prompt "Verify Registered" (4) select your school(s) and prompt select. The list will contain first name, project title, and project number. For security reasons the last names are not shown. The project number is listed but not the category. A student can find their category by entering the online registration using their personal user name and password.
On the "Student Main" the above attachments for students are also listed for the students to download and use as needed.
Note: Student project number must be on the backboard and in the notebook. The name of the student and project id will also be placed on the table area to avoid any confusion setting up the projects in the correct space. Not allowed on project board or in notebook is the school name, teacher name and frontal (face) picture of the student. Suggestion, the school name or face can be covered by a small piece of paper.

To all sponsoring teachers: You must register your name and building under "Registration" before your students register their projects online. Important -go to "More Information-" at end of this page for how to register yourself online.
Required paperwork is found on this site by prompting "Fair" then prompt "ISEF Forms" to obtain the forms to complete and print out. Collect the completed forms from the students and send forms with the entry fees to the science fair at the address found below the fair schedule on this page. Required forms and form information is found by prompting "Registration" on this site then "Student". Read all the information about the required forms, especially the fewer required forms that may be required for many gr. 6-8 students.
For complete teacher directions go to the "old" website at www.rbsef.com and prompt "Teacher" to get answers to all your questions and directions to send forms and check to the science fair. Note: if a project involves humans, animals, microbes (bacteria) or fungi go to the end of the teacher directions and read numbers 4, 5, and 6 for information to form a local IRB (Institutional Review Board) for review of these type of projects by school staff.

More Information-To make this website work for you it is important that the teacher must register on the website before the students from your school register projects online. You will be asked for your email address and to create a personal password so that as your students from your building enter the science fair online you can track their progress etc. If you teach in more than one building check off all buildings that apply to you. Note, most teacher sponsors from the 2014 science fair are registered but you will still need to provide an email and passcode to complete your registration. When a student picks your name from a pull down list for your school building you will then be able to gather the student's entry information as needed. If all goes well you will not need to wait until the last minute to get your list of registered students as in past years. Now you can get the list of your building students anytime you want. Because each student and teacher will have email and passwords it will allow a teacher to better communicate with registered students in the school. All this should work if the teacher registers on the site before the students start registering the projects online.
A message from Fair Director Mike Gerhart, The 63rd Reading Berks Science and Engineering Fair (www.rbsef.org) is using a new website to inform teachers, register students, and register sponsoring teachers. Since this is a new website we are hoping there will be few issues using the website. I know from my 35 years teaching science and sponsoring students in this science fair requires a lot of teacher time. It is hoped this site will allow teachers to sponsor students with less effort and obtain more information on student project progress. One of the many features of the new site allows a teacher to obtain a list of their students registered in the science fair.

Judge Main Page
The Science Fair is judged by a panel of volunteer judges who donate their time and expertise to provide fair and impartial judging of student projects. We are greatful for the many judges who tirelessly aid in our fair, many of whom have served for decades.
Previous judges are contacted prior to the Fair and enrolled to judge in the categories of their expertise. If you haven't served as a judge previously and would like to volunteer, select the "Registration" tab on the left and choose "Judge" to provide your enrollment information.
Typically, five to seven judges will be responsible for ranking the entires in each of the Fair's twelve categories. The schedule for judges is: Judging Day - Tue. March 17, 2015
